Along Russian Capes

Arctic Venture part 1: After one hundred kilometers paddling along the Russian coast, heading to cross the Bering Sea, I encountered serious material problems which forced me to abort the expedition. Not much later I was picked up by the Russian Coast Guard because I also had broken some sincere Russian laws.

A thousand kilometers kayak – bushwalk expedition into Yakutia, in the far eastern corner of Siberia, in 2011. The route went from Suntar River to the town of Belaya Gora near the Arctic Ocean, combined with three weeks of walking into the deserted mountainranges along the way.

Into the Siberian Wild

A thousand kilometers kayak – bushwalk expedition into Buratia, a vast mountainous region north – east from the Baikal Lake, in 2010. From Nuovo Uoyan the expedition I went over the Angara and Kotera Rivers to reach a desolate mountainpass in the Muyiskiy Range, and then further downstream over the Muya and Vitim Rivers, ending in Belaya-Gora.

Late Summer in Sareks

A three – week kayak – hiking expedition in the Sareks Mountainrange, Sweden, in 2009. Starting in Ritsem the route went to the Akka mountain, into the interior of Sareks, north over the Valldayakka River and back to Ritsem.

Over the Vercors Plateau

A five – day mountain walk over the Vercor Plateau in France, 2008. The Vercors is a large highland made of chalk stone where water is very hard to be found. I will never forget walking along the steep western cliffs, with an astonishing view over the clouds that lay in the valley.

Up and Down in the West Ecrins

An eighty kilometers walk into the Ecrins, in the French Alps, in 2007. The mountain walk started in Champoleon and crossed very mountainous terrain, each day elevating thousand metres up and thousand metres down, with a heavy loaded backpack. It was autumn and the mountain huts were all closed. A very intensive, quiet walk with good weather.

A long Walk to the Polar Circle

A two – hundred kilometer walk in the north of Vasterbotten, Sweden, in 2000. Starting in Tarnaby the route went over the Storfjallet Mountains, to Ammarnas and over the famous Kungsleden path, to end in Adolfstrom.

Across the Hardangervidda

A two – hundred kilometers cross – country ski trip across the Hardangervidda, Norway, in 1997. Starting in Gausta, I was heading to Geilo, until a broken headlamp caused serious disaster in the middle of a snow storm. Escaping into a nearby sheltered valley I lost my way without GPS, but managed to return home safely.

Winter in the Swedish Alps

A three – hundred kilometer cross – country ski trip through Kebnekaise, Padjelanta and Sareks, mountainous areas in the north of Sweden, in 1995. From Suorva the route went along the Kebnekaise, to the Akka Mountain into Padjelanta and back into Sareks, finishing in the small town of Kvikjokk, which took eleven days.
